People are getting very concerned about diabetes these days, understatement? Well, more than ever before folks are turning up with some form of diabetes, I just seen an episode of the Nanny where one of the unruly kids at around 7 years old with a diabetes diagnosis of type 1, he not only wouldn’t listen and mind his parents well, he did not understand that he has to be put on a diabetes diet, pricked for blood, and take a shot of insulin everyday. This child liked to tease his parents by not eating as they would insist he eats to keep the treatment balance, the kid did not know how much it mattered that he eat what was on his plate, he just knew it got his parents going when he toyed with that. When people start seeing this in their children much less anyone else, they are set out to find a causes of diabetes review, and are eager to get the information laid out for them, so without anymore pre discussion here is some causes of diabeties for you to look at.
It is necessary first to tell what diabetes is so to better understand the signs and symptoms of diabetes. There is type 1 and type 2 diabetes, they both have to do with glucose build up in the blood, with type 2 the body can still do it’s job but not good enough and type 1 the body cannot do it’s job at all. The cells of our bodies need glucose which are sugars and starches that the body breaks down from our food, our cells get their fuel this way. Our natural insulin takes the sugar from our blood and brings it to the cells, if there is no insulin doing this, the glucose in the blood remains in the blood (glucose build-up) and that is not good!
So then What Causes Diabetes?
For Type 1
1.) You inherit an underlying pathway or predisposition to the disease, or are born from a history of diabetes, then something will trigger it. The trigger has been found to be environmental factors, most people that are at risk don’t actually get diabetes. Genes are not enough, this is proven with the stats on twins with identical genes, one twin will get it and the other will not.
2.) Ok, we have established that one inherits a likelihood but still may not get the disease, unless they find a trigger.
a.) One trigger might be living in very cold weather.
b.) A mild virus of some other kind can trigger type 1 diabetes.
c.) Early eating from birth, getting off breast feeding and/or bottle (going to solid foods) at an earlier age can play a role in triggering the disease.
d.) Autoantibodies found in the blood, (antibodies gone bad) attack the tissues in the body, type 1 diabetes take some years to develop.
For type 2
1.) This is based on genetics more than type 1, but also depends on environmental factors and triggers. Two things to consider here are the family history of the disease and the risk factor of the offspring getting type 2 diabetes is lifestyle, and exactly what they will eat.
2.) Too much fat and too little carbohydrate and fiber, along with too little activity and exercise can trigger the diabetes. If one watches out for these principles they can avoid getting the disease no matter how high their genetic risk.
3.) Obesity is a risk factor or trigger, and is most risky for someone young that has been obese for a long time.
So basically the causes of diabetes are mostly genetic but non genetic factors are playing the big role, you may have a family history of diabetes and for that reason are at risk, but you have as big a chance of not getting diabetes as anyone. While there is not really an actual cure for diabetes, you can very realistically reverse the onset of this disease!

One day I noticed my wife Mary was not feeling well and I checked her for a fever, she had one, I also noticed she was losing weight, the kind of weight loss that would concern you. I gave it a day and thought that like always this would pass and she would be fine and bubbly again. Well she just got worse, coughing, moving slowly, talking under her breath, throwing up often, turning white, I had enough. In the past if she would get sick it would pass in a day or two but this was too much too long, so I took her to the hospital.

After they read my report there at the emergency room, they decided one of her tests will be to check her blood sugar. Her blood sugar level was over 1000 and was unheard of as most scales don’t go that high. They wondered how she was still alive, she was diagnosed with diabetes complications, and this was new to us, although she had the history in the family, we never thought much of it, but one day, it got triggered.
We now have to keep insulin and needles and test for normal levels everyday, anywhere between 88 and 125 would be fine (everyone is different). Mary does not need to take the insulin everyday though as her body will still do some of the job, but she does have to watch what she eats and check levels. You can not only still live with diabetes but you can also reverse it and untrigger it.

Insulin can save your life, it also is doing a little damage to your cells along the way that is why breakthroughs in reversing diabetes and courses are highly recommended, if you can keep your sugar levels normal by certain methods then you wont have to take insulin. In fact quite a few times Mary took insulin because it was now a habit to do so, but she has been working on reversing diabetes and she didn’t need the insulin and it made her have to eat something sweet to keep from being queasy, Opps, her sugar levels were already fine when she took the insulin. Diabetes is controllable and reversible.
